Which plants can I use on my balcony to attract butterflies?

I would love to have some potted plants that bear flowers during the summer months, which would attract butterflies. I have no garden, but I do have a large balconey. Do you have any suggestions?

Zennias draw butterflies and they are also cheap..quickly grow from seed and flowers in under 2 months

I have 1000's of zennia seeds..i just scatter them on the ground and what comes up, comes up. I always have every color imaginable along with several different types of blooms

butterflies like sunflowers also and sunflowers have a small root system but on occasion you might find one with 1 deep root but most of the time when i pull my sunflowers up at the end of the season they come out of our clay ground very easy

HAPPY GARDENING!!!!!!
Reply:I like mexican petunias. They have nice purple flowers, are easy to grow and butterflies love them. I prefer day lilies though.
Reply:I was looking for mother's day gifts this morning. They have cute little butterfly kits online that come with a breeding house type thing and a booklet and some butterfly nectar. I think it was around $40 for the starter kit.
Reply:I NOT SURE SPELLING IS RIGHT, I'LL GET POINT ACROSS OK. IT'S CALLED: BUDDILIEDA BUSH. IN SMIPLE, A BUTTERFLY BUSH, ALSO THERE IS A FLOWER, BUTTERFLY PLANT, THEY DO A GOOD JOB BRINGING THEM IN.ALSO CONE FLOWER, THEY ALL 3 POT WELL. I HAVE USED THEM MYSELF, 2ND SEASON YOU BE HAPPY WITH, 1ST SEASON BE GOOD,BUT 2ND IS BETTER.
Reply:They seem to like Blue Sage Salvia.

Reply:Buddleia or "butterfly bush" (pink, purple, white, yellow), Neptune's Beard (pink or white), Zinnias (bright crayon colors), Lantana (oranges, yellows, pinks, reds), Lavender, and Allysum (white or purple) are all flowering plants I have watched the butterflies enjoy.

It is also important to get plenty of sun on your balcony to help attract those fluttery beauties.

Good Luck!
Reply:You could try hebe shrubs. These have flowers in the summer and an added bonus is that they are evergreen
Reply:i live in the south, and here there are dwarf butterfy bushes that flower profusely all summer. they only get a couple of feet high and wide.
