What are the best plants for a wet, boggy garden, but which slugs won't eat?

Our garden is very wet. Some plants grow well, some wither and die. Some are eaten by slugs and some the slugs leave alone. But knowing which will be the case when we plant is a question of trial and error. Ideally we need a list of plants which will grow and that slugs don't like the taste of. Anyone know of such a miracle?

What are the best plants for a wet, boggy garden, but which slugs won't eat?
willow, astilbe, berberis, campanula, vinca, holly, privet, black leaf elder, honeysuckle, escallonia, philadelphus, laurel, iris, crocosmia, spyraea, some sedges, some fuchsias.

Try imroving the soil with plenty of horticultural grit and humus as you go along

Good luck
Reply:ask your local garden center, or you can control the slugs, place egg shells around your plants, I've heard slugs don't like going over them because they have sharp edges, or you could use the beer method, place beer in an empty container, them cover the beer with another larger container, but allowing room for the slug to slide under the container so they can get to the beer, they drown happily.
Reply:slugs dislike any hairy or thorny plants, so try growing these. for example, teasels grow well in boggy ground and look great..they also have hairy/spiny leaves and slugs hate them. linaria (toadflax) also looks good and is also slug proof as it is toxic to them. these two plants are ones I have grown with great success in a wet, sluggy garden but there are many more to choose from. just narrow your search to hairy, thorny, slug-toxic plants which like wet conditions.
