All you plant lovers out there, do you really think that talking to plants does any good?

I have a plant that I got from my Grandmothers funeral. I have never been a real plant person, but I am determined to keep this one alive. So I replanted it and am going to great means to take care of it. I just want to know if you think that talking to plants really helps to nurture it and help it to grow and stay healthy? In your professional opinion. Thanks.

All you plant lovers out there, do you really think that talking to plants does any good?
Talking to them is good for the plant. Listening to them is good for you. RScott
Reply:Well I can't trully say that is so but I once had a plant I played Elvis too and it prospered more than my other plants, the thing about co2 would be true as long as you are in any room a plant is in,whether you talked to it or not.
Reply:No i dont think it does plants any good, but it can do you some good somtimes
Reply:I tend to ignore my plants once established, going with the theory, if you want to live, you will. I water them and at no time do I talk to them, play music for them or any of that other stuff. They get water and once in a great while fertilizer when I think of it. They do great!
Reply:no
Reply:I have read that talking to plants does some good.

Also, they seem to like classical music, but not rock, etc.

Just soft, gentle music.
Reply:about 12 years ago i picked a plant out of a friend's trashcan. it was very dry and dead looking, with only 2 or 3 leaves that were still green. i brought it home and loved it. it flourished for everyday of the next 12 years. even when i was traveling and my mom forgot to water it regularly it still did very well. i never changed the soil or the pot. then i moved and my mother did not water it for a very long time. it died.

moral : loving a plant and saving it from near certain death may inspire it to live; however any plant will die if basic needs are not met

good luck!
Reply:yes it does i ahve seen plants prosper from talking to them
Reply:According to Myth Busters, classical and death metal music works to help keep a plant alive. Also, according to Myth Busters, talking to your plants does work, as long as you talk to it loveingly. Personally, I just feed and water mine and use a plant light on them. I think they get the idea that I'd like for them to live!
Reply:Talking to plants is good for them because when you talk you release carbon dioxide out of your mouth, towards the plants. Plants need carbon dioxide to photosynthesize and make food for themselves. So yes, talking to plants is good for them.
Reply:I would have answered this so differently only a few years ago. I am not a panthiest, by any means. But God does make the plants. I always used to giggle at ppl that sang and talk to their plants, thought it was so silly. But I learned way diffrently. There is power in speaking the words of God, of positive confession. We can bless or curse someone just by our words, but I never thought of that to a plant. They cant talk back, they cant hear, right???

WEll, God sent me a very special man, a Christian that really understood this message about speaking things out for things to come back. WOrds are so powerful. Its not the power in a plant, its the power from God to give what we speak out, that is NOT against His word or His will.

After my husband and I got married four years ago, I leanred th rethink my attitude as I saw it in action, and I understood the message of positive confession even more.

Example:: THis is the first time I saw this. He was out in our greenhouse, and yes we are both plant nuts. We raise unusual and rare plants, even cactus. Anyhow, he was outside and soooo quiet. So I walked out , and he didnt see me at all, but I could see and hear him. HE was talking and singing to certain plants, and even reading the word over them. I heard him say so sweetly, Oh, you just havent been doing well for ahile. I command you in the name of JEsus to begin to do well, grow stronger and bigger and taller and be beautiful. You are Gods creation and I call on beauty to come in fullness. I sat back and watched this and thought oh boy, he is a christian, but holy moly he is talking and singing to the plants and even reading the word of God. I didnt tell him what I saw, and it was innocent and sweet, but I thought such hogwash. But he is a good man. WEll, the next morning, I walked out and I will tell you what I saw, and unless you are a child of God you wont believe it. That plant had grown about 4 inches, from one morning to the next, and had a gorgous bloom. beautiful. He walked out and was talking to the plant again and saying I knew you would be beautiful for God. SO I told him what I saw and how I had giggled at it. HE just smiled, and said he knew, he used to think like me too, till he understood the power of the tongue, the power of WORDS God said let there be light, and there was...

WOrds are so powerful. Even the secular psycologists know that. IF you tell someone they are ugly when they grow up, they begin to believe it and its hard to undo, even tho they are truly beautiful. Words bless and words can also curse, because God put power in words. WE can hurt someone with our words, or heal them. I am not panthiest thinking that plant has soul and all of that. But that plant is made by God and when we speak over it, God hears it and it is blessed.

Laugh all you want, until you see it yourself, you have no idea.

Ppl say to us all the time how we are so of a green thumb.

Hahahaha. NO, ITs about bringing the word of God into everythig we do, and yes it works. Try it and see for yourself, but you must believe what you say, and it must be honoring God. YOu cant just say GIVE ME A MILLION IN AN HOUR GOD and expect Him to give it. Thats greed and God wont honor that. But, when we operate in the will of God with obedience and love , He will hear and answer.

I just tell ppl that are truly Gods ppl, to try this and see for yourself. IT speaks life into that plant, as God brings life.....
Reply:i tried it once but then i realized that it didn't do anything and my lovely nice flower withered out i dont know what to tell u but you can also read this is the answer someone gave to a question like yours :http://ask.yahoo.com/20030129.html
Reply:I would like to begin by saying that I'm terribly sorry about your Grandmother. To answer your question. From what I understand, we produce carbon dioxide when we speak, or rather, breath out and the plants need CO2 to grow. In return the plant produces Oxygen which is essential for our growth and well being. It is a symbiotic relationship. A win/win situation as you might say. It's not so much in the talking to your plants that does good, it's breathing on them. So, yea, it is good for them. Plus, it's good for the soul.

Good Luck with your plant
