I'm looking for some easy to care for plants for my 55 gallon. I have about 6 africans( yellow lab, red zebra) and 2 plecos. I dont have any co2(hoping I dont need any?) and I just want to start to try my hands at some plants.
What are some good beginner freshwater aquarium plants?
Most African Cichlids and Plecos destroy plants, but there are a couple plants that can withstand them.
Three that I know of are Java Fern: http://www.aquahobby.com/garden/e_javafe...

E-mail me for any questions!
Reply:I have had a lot of trouble with plants you buy from pet stores, from research i have since done it appears a lot of them are not capable of being submersed full time and only live underwater for short periods. what does survive strong for me are amazon swords, java fern and anubias. these are all bigger leafed plants and they survive well in artificial light.
Reply:Try some java moss. It grows fast, and you may want to look into it, but its a good plant.
