What is better: clearing existing tomato plants and replant for the next season than leaving them in?

We have tomato plants standing bushy and green. They have survived Southern California winter so far. For the next season, which of the following is better?

a. Leave these plants and let them give fruits this Summer as well.

b. Remove them and put new seedlings

Which of the above will have better yields?

It totally depends on if the tomatoe plants are a determinate or indeterminate variety of tomatoes...A determinate variety only fruit one time then they are done...I would buy new ones personally...for after tomatoes have reached a temperature below 50 degrees it messes up thier photosynthesis anyway and you will only get about a 25% of the normal crop production..
Reply:Since they are thriving, leave them in. Fertilize, prune back some of the oldest vines that have little or no new growth, water and keep them warm. When they blossom, hit them with blossom set and then pinch back about half of the buds.

In a nearby area, start some new seedlings, take good care of both and you should have a bumper crop.
