What plants grow in Germany and not in the UK?

I am a botanist and I love to find plants in the countryside, and I have never really been abroad. I know if I went anywhere exotic I'd be like a kid in a candyshop. Well, next year I am going to Germany for 6 months. I understand that there are very few differences in the plant life. The only one I heard of is that in Germany there are wild tulips. Do you know of any others?

In the alps you should get edelweiss, the wild (summer?) gentian and a wonderful huge creamy thistle, with flat flowers and downy stamens - could be 4 inches diameter
Reply:Edelweiss?
Reply:dude, ask a german botanist would be my suggestion, or enquire online at the natural history museum, they are quite helpful... but given that germany is only a few hundred miles away, would you expect to find botanical differences between scotland and cornwall... (yes i know there are lots of different plants, but its more due to the geography of the area and its temperate climate.. and germany is over the road so to speak
Reply:worked there 2 years --mainly berlin area-found my copy of"the wild flowers of britain and northen europe" (collins--richard-alastair fitter)very useful, the book says germany outside range of info ,pity the flowers didn`t know.germans love nature, reserves everywhere.sorry not more specific, hope it helps.
Reply:can you elaborate please?
