Can i water my plants with pool water?

I have a 4000 gallon pool that needs to be cleaned. If I could water my plants and grass with it it would be great.

It is important to remember that chlorine does not occur naturally in nature, chloride (Cl-) is readily soluble, highly mobile and easily taken up by plants. Chloride is the element that is found in fertilizer materials.

According to Clemson University, "There should be no effect of pool water splashed on nearby plants from normal pool use. Larger plants (and animals) can tolerate the concentrations that are recommended for pool water."

Knowing this, I would still not recommend watering your entire yard and plants with it even though a little bit may be splashed on the plants and grass.
Reply:If your pool has had chemical treatment/cleaning fluids in it, then I would not recommend it. If your pool is natural with no added chemicals then yes you can water your grass and plants with it. However if it is stagnant or has been sitting covered up for a while, I would not water special plants with it as it could spread disease. Join my yahoo group "british_homemakers"
Reply:No...the chemicals in the pool water will be toxic to the plants and lawn...unless of course the water hasn't been treated...chlorine will usually evaporate out within 24 hours if it isn't renewed with chlorine tablets. If you have a pH kit, try checking the water...if the pH is neutral, then you could get by with using the water.
