How long can plants be covered during a freeze warning?

Does keeping the plants covered with towels, blankets, etc. hurt them if they aren't uncovered during the day? I want to protect them from the cold, but don't want them to die from lack of sun light.

You need to be sure to keep the plants covered when temps are around freezing. Take the sheets etc. off when the sun is out as they might smother under them.
Reply:keep covered during the danger temps, but uncover when the sun comes out and the temp warms up.....good luck
