What kind of plants can I grow in an area with high wind speeds and temps reaching over 130 degrees?

I live in Bahrain. I also live in an apartment on the 4th floor. My apartment does have a balcony. I receive sunlight from 6am till roughly 12pm. Because I am so high up the wind speeds can be quite rough. Also, temps here can reach well over 130 degrees. I am looking to find vegetable plants and flowers that will do well in these conditions.

What kind of plants can I grow in an area with high wind speeds and temps reaching over 130 degrees?
Cactus, of various types. I doubt that you'll find any vegetables that will work unless you can drop the temperature a bit.
Reply:Wow! I had no idea of the extreme climate! Cactus would be a good possibility for you. As for vegetables and flowers, that may be more difficult. A shade cloth will help your plants to stay cool, but with the high winds you will need some serious cover. Keep plants watered well, you may need to water them several times a day due to the temp. and the drying wind. I don't know what to suggest to protect your plants from high winds though. Maybe plants that grow lower to the ground .... root crops like carrots, beets, cabbages. I would not suggest trying to grow corn!! For flowers maybe dwarf marigolds or herbs like thyme, sage and possibly lavender might work. There are also some dwarf sunflowers that you might be able to grow. If you can move your plants indoors when the winds are extremely high?
Reply:As to flowers, euphorbia can withstand warm humidity.
