What should I do with my plants while I am on a holiday?

I have an aloe vera, some ivy (Hedera), some "money tree" (Crassula ovata) and some other plants in my appartment. I will be on a holiday more than one month and I do not know what I should do with my plants. Should I place all of them in lots of water? Should I place them in darker corners of the house? What should I do so that they do not die until I come back, because there is nobody that can take care of them.

You can purchase special long term watering things that lok like bottles upended into the pot...



I once just left my plants sitting in a long tray of water and they were alive when I returned.



Another alternative is to advertise for someone to water them...a student would possibly love a few dollars a week to do just that.

Don't leave them in the dark..they will die..leave them by a window so they at least get some light for their photosynthesis..if you cannot get someone to look in on them...



A month is a while...but they will survive if they get light...and are sitting in lots of water

Reply:Fill old soda bottle with water, turn upside down into the soil a few inches. This should help water your plants as they need it.

Place them in your bathroom where its cool most of the time....

Get some small plastic bags, fill it with water and place it all around your plant(inside the pot)........

Keep buckets full of water near your plants as well.....

If possible, make way for a little sunshine for the plants......

I don't know how sure if this will work.......

Reply:call a friend to comeover or take them to a friends house or someone you know really good just ask them if you can leave your plants there for a while im sure they will agree to, they are so much eaiser to take care of than children are!
Reply:try to ask any relative of yours to drop by and water your plants once a week or if your plants are just outside your house and accessible to your neighbor, try to ask them if they could water those plant if your plants are not many. Or if you know someone (a housekeeper) then ask him or her if they could water your plants even once to twice a week, of course just ask him or her how much would it cost.
Reply:If the plants are potted, you can put each one in a basin of water and leave them in the bathroom; that is, if your bathroom has natural sunlight streaming into it. The plants will soak up the water according to their needs. The plants you mentioned are quite hardy. They may survive one month the bathroom as long as the conditions mentioned above are met. Believe me, I have been out more than a month and my plants survived!



If you have friends in the neighborhood, you can request him/her to take care of the plants while you are away. (You can return the favor later.)
