What type of plants should i put in my cichlid tank?

I am currently putting together my cichlid tank. I have the crushed coral placed down and it is currently cycling. I would like to know what kind of plants should i put in the tank and also what type of terrain should i have in the tank for the cichlids. They will mainly be Lake Malawi Cichlids.

What type of plants should i put in my cichlid tank?
Plastic ones, weighed down by rocks and fastened well. Cichlids are usually found in rocky terrain. They are notorious for constantly shifting gravel around in their bid to defend territory and assert breeding rights. Any real plants you put in will be damaged very quickly since they'll constantly be uprooted.
Reply:Malawi don't use plants, so they're more or less a waste of space in their tank, plus many will do their best to eat them. A couple of sturdy leafed plants like Anubius could work, or a couple of fake ones, but that's a bout it. What most of the common Malawi's appreciate is a tank with a nice balance of open space and rock piles that provide a large network of caves and tunnels.
