What types of plants serve as good screens for my outdoor balcony?

A bamboo palm is pretty good and grows fast but I'd like to know what other plants I can put in large pots on my balcony to give me more privacy. It gets sun directly in the morning and starts to get shady towards the afternoon.

What types of plants serve as good screens for my outdoor balcony?
Potted plants such as ferns,ivy yews,etc..Just be sure plants you pick are non flowering or fruit bearing...they would attract bees,flies and insects,which would make using the balcony uncomfortable..
