What is the best hedge plants for privacy for large yard and 3 dogs?

I live near Chicago, IL and have large yard. Looking to plant a good, fast growing, dense and tall hedge around back yard. I have approx. 300' of fence area to cover. Also have 3 large dogs. I plan on installing invisible electric fence to keep dogs away from growing plants as well. I'm looking for total coverage from ground level up to at least 10' high. I was considering hybrid willow or some type of evergreen.

we have a Mediterranean climate and I have used and been very happy with my Privet hedge---it is tough grows as high as you want it and can be propagated very easily from cutting and grows reasonably quick

Reply:bamboo.

there are lots of bamboo for your area.

type in on a yahoo search

bamboo for zone 5a

then you will see alot of results. it grows about a foot a year and can reach hights of 20 feet tall and can be pruned to be shorther and better organized
Reply:I think a hedge of viburnum would look nice but they may be a little pricey but you would have flowers in the spring and then the flowers turn into colerful berries that the birds love hope this helps.
