I am trying to think of plants that I will be able to keep on my porch over the winter in hanging planters. Where I live the temperature can get to -10 degrees. I would like to purchase live plants that will grow quickly, but that aren't too expensive.
What are some trailing evergreen plants that can grow in containers?
An evergreen~ juniper is trailing, but I have never grown it in a pot. They can withstand VERY cold temp. We have them here and we are zone 3. I believe you can trim them to resemble a bonsai.
I have seen aborvitate in big planters and they are also grown here and are inexpensive. They are a fast grower. Hope this helps.
Reply:Try some Geranium Ivy. It stays green and you can get it in a variety of floral colors. I know it tolerates the heat very well. (Where I live it gets up to 110 degrees.) Ask the nursery if it does well in colder climates. It is a beautiful, trailing plant that looks great in containers. Hope you can use it in your area!
